The hunchbacked and ridiculed court jester Rigoletto struggles desperately to gain the respect of his peers. The only joy in his life is his beloved daughter, Gilda. Rigoletto is prepared to do everything in his power to protect her from the sorrows of life, but a terrible mistake makes his world fall apart, and in nightmarish hallucinations, he relives his mistake over and over again as insanity drags him further and further into its grip.

German director Aniara Amos, who has previously directed Don Giovanni and The Fairy Queen at the Royal Danish Theatre’s Old Stage, instructs. Rigoletto is performed in Italian with Danish surtitles. The performance starts at 19.30.
